Ipsy Glam Bag Review: January

This months Ipsy glam bag is my favorite yet! I love the silver and blue color. The theme for the month is Metropolis so the bag was apparently inspired by skyscrapers. I’ll take it!

Ipsy is a subscription box company that delivers a bag with 5 products once a month for $10. I have always felt like I get at least $10 of product out of my bag and have loved trying new products I normally wouldn’t consider. If that’s enough to get you to sign up, click here and do it! Smashbox CosmeticsCamera Ready BB Cream SPF 35 in Light or Light Medium: $10

I was pretty excited to try this because I’ve seen it in stores before. (A lot of things I get in my bag I’ve never heard of!) I’m not sure if I just don’t like BB cream or if I don’t like this BB cream. It is pretty thick like sunscreen and I can’t see myself using it regularly. Plus, the regular size of this is $38. That’s pretty expensive for 1 ounce of product. This was a sample size which means it’s size was 1/4 the full size. This makes its’ value about $10.

Pretty Woman Nail Polish in I Can’t Deal: $8

Ipsy sent out two colors of this nail polish and I’m so glad I got the gray! It is a really nice shade and the brush was great. That’s usually how I judge my nail polish; the brush has to be nice. This came as a full size which is valued at $8.

Trust Fund Beauty Lip Gloss in Method to the Madness: $9

This is a product I think I need in my life! I’m not a lipgloss person because it’s sticky and doesn’t last that long. But this lipgloss is not terribly sticky and has the prettiest shade! It is perfect for just running out of the house and throwing a little color on your lips. I got the color Method to the Madness and I think I will buy the full size when this is gone. After extensive research (googling images of the full size container) I’ve learned a full size of this product is 8ml and is $18. The size I received is 4ml meaning it is worth $9.

SLMissGlam Blend Beauty Brush L34: $13.50

I’m pretty bummed about this one. This is the third time in 4 months they’ve sent me a “blender brush”. This is my least favorite blender brush so far. Sure it’s cool with its little diamonds, but the bristles are too fluffy to hold any eyeshadow on them. I suppose it would be good to blend colors that were applied from another brush but I don’t need a separate brush for that purpose. They don’t sell these brushes on their own, they only come in a set. But a similar brush on her website was $13.50.

pur~lisse Blue Lotus Seed 5-in-1 mud mask + exfoliant: $10

This was a fun thing to receive because I haven’t had a mask yet! It was pretty standard as far as a mask goes. If I wanted to buy it again, I’m not sure where I would go about doing that because it’s not listed on their website. So maybe it’s good I didn’t fall in love with it because I wouldn’t know where to tell you to get it anyway! A comparable product was about $10 for a travel size.

So that was my bag! The value was a little over $40. That’s pretty dang good. This was a pretty typical month for me where I like about 2 things and am really bummed by about 2 things. You never know what you like  until you try products though! What did you get in your bag? If you’re not signed up for Ipsy, go here and get started! You won’t regret it.
