BEKVAM Spice Rack Makeover

I use my BEKVAM spice rack as a shelf for my acrylic paints! I decided to use a little chalk paint and love the way it turned out.

I needed a quick and neat way to see my acrylic paints. When I saw this little BEKVAM spice rack at IKEA I knew it would be perfect for my favorite paints! This shelf is so customizable you can make it match the decor of nearly any room.

This post is a part of the Inspire My Creativity party! The theme this week is ‘Chalk Paint’. I love the finish of chalk paint. Matte is a great finish for a lot of things and I hope you’ll poke around and see all the fun projects the hosts of the parties put together!

The finish I chose to go with was this very pale pink chalk paint color. I have my husband living in my home and try to keep the pink to a minimum but this shade is a really pretty, muted and neutral pink.

Start by assembling your rack per the instructions. It’s a really quick assembly. You’ll want to do this first because it has a few tight fitting pieces that could be nearly impossible to make work if you have paint on them.

After your shelf is assembled, paint it your desired color.

The irony is not lost on me that I used spray paint to paint my acrylic paint shelf! I knew I needed to add SOME acrylic touches.

I decided to add a little speckled detail to it to give it a bit of interest. To do this I just dipped a thin paint brush in my acrylic paint and knocked the side of my brush to let it drip onto the shelf.

Then I mounted them and put up my paints! I love having them right where I can see them with easy access. I need all the drawer space I can get!
