I am not one to decorate for the 4th of July, but I am SO into this little 4th of July decor item I made using Deco Foil and a free printable I have for you! It looks really detailed, expensive and intricate, but it’s totally not! It is extremely simple and you only need a piece of paper and some deco foil.
When I had an invite to sign up for Craft Lightening again I signed up before even thinking twice! Then I remembered I never do patriotic crafts; so this one pushed my creative limits. My mom reminded me how much I love Hamilton the Musical and I knew making a print would be a perfect, low key, patriotic craft!
I watched a demo with Deco Foil at a recent conference and thought it was pretty cool. I knew I would come up with something to do with it. It is so much cooler than I could have imagined! All you need is a laminator and you have this amazing effect.
What you need for your 4th of July Hamilton Craft
- Deco foil
- Plain white paper
- Laser Printer
- Free Printable
- Laminator
I feel silly even telling you how to do this so I thought I’d create a video showing you how simple it really is. If you’d rather read about it, I have that for you here too!
Start by printing off this free printable, or any patriotic quote or saying of your choice, on a laser printer! It has to be a laser printer because it’s the toner that the foil will react to.
Lay the foil, shiny side up, on top of the printed paper and fold a piece of plain paper around the outside of the foil and your quote. Think of it like you’re making a sandwich.
Run your ‘sandwich’ though the laminator!
The plastic will kind of curl up a little bit because it got warm. You can’t run this same piece through again but you can use it with a deco foil pen which is also fun! So keep the foil is what I’m telling you.
Pull the foil off of the paper, and you will see a perfectly foiled quote!
Wasn’t that so simple? It is one of the easiest crafts ever but looks like you bought it! I want to Deco Foil everything now.
