The SINDAL jute rug from IKEA is so customizable and easy to makeover! i did two different designs and they both turned out pretty cool!
They aren’t the ugliest mats I’ve ever seen but they are rather boring. I decided a little spray paint would give them a bit of life. My sister also bought one so we decided to do hers too!
I received free product from rustoleum to complete this project. All opinions are 100% my own!

For my mat, I did a bit more of an intricate pattern. The fun thing about this is you can really tape whatever shape or design you’d like!
Next I sprayed it with a thin layer of spray paint. After that dried, I did it again.
Once I had it the color I really wanted, I pulled the tape off.
At this point you will spray it with a clear coating so that it doesn’t rub off when people wipe their shoes.
You can see the design we did with my sisters here. We went for a black metallic on hers! It turned out so cool.
You can see how customizable the SINDAL jute rug really is. If you wanted to do a more detailed pattern you could easily do that as well. And because the rug is only $5, you don’t have to feel bad switching it out and creating a new one!
Have you ever made over this Ikea jute rug? I’d love to see it!
