Use this simple trick to keep your houseplants alive and thriving! I have trees alive and thriving. Your houseplants aren’t destined to be dead.
This is a post by request that I am happy to be sharing! I have several houseplants around my house, no they’re not all alive, but those that are, I also don’t really maintain either! Houseplants are notorious for being difficult to keep up unless you’re really dedicated. Well I’m not really dedicated but I have learned how to make it work for me and my busy schedule.
I was searching Amazon and found these ‘vacation waterers’. People who buy these just when they go on vacation are the type of person I would like to be, but I’m not.

They are little clay spikes that go in your soil and slowly water your plant over an extended period of time. They are pretty much a way to only water your plant when you see an empty waterbottle!
I decided to spray paint my water bottle to make it match the color of my walls so you couldn’t see as quickly that it is just a waterbottle.
I used some painters tape to tape off the bottom area by the nozzle so I could see if the bobble was empty or not.
Then I spray painted my bottle! I used a chalky finish gray for this because my walls are a light gray. My plants are alive and thriving and I don’t have to water them! Win win!!
Now you will put your spike in the soil and watch your plant thrive.
I received free product from Rustoleum (the best) to complete this project. All opinions are 100% my own and I am madly in love with Rustoleum. So that makes it easy.
