The Office Party: DIY Michael Scott’s Fun Run Race T Shirt

My siblings, who happen to be twins, had a recent huge birthday celebration and we decided to make it Office Themed! I knew it was important that we wear something matching so they immediately got the reference when they walked in when we surprised them. This shirt only takes two materials to make and requires just a tad bit of patience but is so fun!

Because this is a long statement you will need the 12×24” mat. Put your white iron on vinyl on the mat and load it up. DO NOT FORGET to mark ‘Mirror for Iron On’!

Let the Cricut work it’s magic and wait for your weeding adventure to begin. (It will be a fun one)

When your cut is done, begin weeding. It may take you a minute but I promise it’s worth it!

Heat up your iron and iron it on!

Here are my iron on tips:
  1. Heat up the shirt for about 15 seconds.
  2. Grab a press cloth (or plain cotton cloth)
  3. Put the iron on onto the warm shirt and put the press cloth on top. I liked using a white cloth so I could still see what part of the cut out I was ironing and not miss any spots.
  4. Hold the iron on about 30 seconds on each part of the vinyl. It will take a minute, but it will work best this way. Don’t move the iron, just set it and wait.
  5. Flip the shirt over and do this again. I didn’t do it as long and wasn’t as particular I just wanted the back hot like the front.
  6. While the shirt and plastic is still warm remove the plastic from the vinyl. I waited for it to dry and it is SO much easier when it’s warm! If it looks like it’s not all the way stuck to your fabric, don’t fret. Just get it off the plastic for now. If there are parts where the vinyl is not coming off of the plastic, put the tip of your iron right on that spot for about 5 seconds and it should separate for you.
  7. Once the vinyl is separate from the plastic, put the press cloth back on top and do a quick ironing job again to make sure it’s really on there.

Then you’re done! I did about 15 of these shirts so by the end I felt like I really figured out what worked best and what was really a mistake that couldn’t be fixed. Hopefully these steps make sense to you so you can prevent them too!

  1. I just found this post via Pinterest, and thought “YES! Exactly what I’m looking for!” But I can’t find the actual link to the file… 🙁 Am I missing it??

  2. Hi! Thank you so much for making this file! But just a heads up, “Awareness” is spelled wrong. It only has one “s” in the file. 🙂

  3. You posted this on my birthday! Crazy! Anywho, thanks for sharing! I’ve been trying SO hard to find this exact font for DAYS now. How big are you making this? 11.5 x how tall exactly? Thanks!

    1. I’m so glad you found it!!! I did the width at 11.5” and the height was about 16.65”! If you’re using a cutting machine you will need the 12”x24” mat! Let me know how it goes!!

        1. It’s all different font sizes to get the look! But the size of the full decal on the shirt is 11.5 inches wide! Hope this helps <3
