This knit trivet is literally one of the easiest knitting projects you can do and so I made you a free printable to gift them away!
Here’s the truth; I knit trivets to practice new stitches. There I said it. If I have given you a trivet, it’s cause I was just testing out a new stitch. But I only finish the ones I love!! So that still counts as a thoughtful gift right? This wool yarn from We Are Knitters is my absolute favorite for trivets because it is not absorbent at all so if it gets wet it doesn’t really stay that way and you don’t need much of it to create a trivet because it’s so fluffy. This was an off white color and I dyed it using avocado pits for this pretty pink color!

Start by casting on 16 stitches. Do your favorite stitch (or play with some new ones!) for as many rows until a square forms. This particular one it was about 24 rows. I just did a standard knit stitch for this one but moss stitch has turned out really nice too!
When your square is all done, print off this little tag. It should be sized correctly so make sure you print it at it’s size! I cut the whole width of the 8.5×11 paper.
Cut it out and roll your trivet in a tube. Wrap the printable around it and then tape it to hold it.
Then you’re ready to gift it! Isn’t this such a perfectly simple gift for a friend’s birthday or Mother’s Day? This particular one went to a friend of mine who had just had a hard month. I love having thoughtful little gifts ready to go when I need them!
