This year, I believe everyone should actively try to practice more self care! For that reason, I have a few ideas for you. This DIY scented bath salts recipe will make any bath better. (And baths are already pretty perfect in my humble opinion.)
Orange Rosemary Bath Salt Recipe
- 2 cups epsom salt
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 8-10 drops of essential oil of your choice (I used Wild Orange)
- About 1/8 cup Rosemary (optional)
- 1/4 cup Himalayan Sea Salt (optional)
First I melted the coconut oil so it melted but was not hot. Then I combined all of the ingredients. That’s it! I honestly didn’t measure the rosemary; I just put enough that I felt like it looked nice.
Epsom salt has so many awesome benefits. Before I created these scented bath salts, I would put plain epsom salt in my bath because it can really help relieve tension and sore muscles.
Wild orange is known to have energizing effects as well as improve focus. Maybe not what you want in an evening bath, but after a hard day at work (or when your husband gets home from work and can watch the kids a minute!) it would be a great pick me up before continuing your evening.
The sea salt gives your bath a nice beachy feel. The point is, bath salts make everything better!
Do you love baths like I do? I know a lot of people say “I don’t have enough time for a bath”, but I’m a firm believer in if something is important to you (like self care!) you find a way to make it happen. If we all practiced better self care we would be happier people and make for better spouses, friends and family members.
What a simple thing to enjoy life more, and appreciate the body you live in.
Can’t use coconut oil or sunflower oil due to allergies, what would be a good substitute?
Hey Susan!! you could use olive oil, avocado oil and jojoba to name a few! Any ‘carrier’ oil will work because it’s mostly just an ingredient to make sure the scent gets blended to every part of your bath salt batch! <3
