IKEA Bistro Set Makeover

This simple IKEA bistro set got a major makeover and I can’t wait for you to see every detail! I think you’ll love the transformation.

I bought this bistro set an entire year ago. It’s a perfect blank slate so I’ve been waiting for a good excuse to give it the makeover it deserves. I’ve been tie dyeing for about a year so of course I needed to give it the indigo shibori treatment! See all my favorite shibori folds here. Or instead of using indigo, what about mulberry bush dye or even ice tie dyed fabric!

If you have synthetic fibers, you can ice dye on synthetic fabric by using this tutorial.

First I started by painting my bistro set. You of course need to make sure the surface is clean then spray a light even coat of the black flat spray paint I have linked above. Painter’s Touch is what I use for everything. If you need some special spray paint tips I put this post together!

I didn’t want to overwhelm you all in one place so I actually show you the tutorial for the patio cushions here!

The ‘table cloth’ type thing going on is actually just a square of the drop cloth! I died it when I dyed my cushions. Once it is dyed, spray a layer of the spray adhesive on the top of the table. Be generous with the amount you’re using!

I let this dry then flipped the table on it’s top and used the adhesive to glue the ends to the bottom of the table for a cleaner look.

I attached my seats and was all done! I love the way this turned out. So fun and trendy. I love a good makeover!
