The GRANÅS chair is so customizable. To prove it I made it over 3 different ways. Even the original is cool so I wanted to throw that one in too!
The main goal of this project was to see what it looked like to stain wicker with wood stain. I think it turned out pretty well! can’t wait to try it again. I have had this table and chair set from IKEA for quite a while. It was just sitting in my garage because the combination of tan wicker and metal gray was just not quite my style! After I finished the first, I wanted to keep going and try some more styles!
I received free product from Rustoleum to complete this project! As always, these opinions are 100% my own.
Materials I used to makeover the GRANÅS Chair
- IKEA chair
- Wood stain
- Spray paint

Briarsmoke is my all time favorite stain. It has a really neat smokey gray tone and an almost glossy texture. I also love me some flat white glossy spray paint! That’s what I chose to use for this first makeover.
For the second makeover I decided to do a little glam. I went for metallic gold on the legs and metallic silver on the seat. Mostly I wanted to see how spray paint did on the seat. It went pretty well but probably needed more than two coats.
For the third makeover I wanted to try upholstery on the seat! I got this fabric from the scraps section of Joann and just loved the print. it looks really nice on the seat. I also sprayed the legs matte black. I’m not sure it looked much different than the original. If I did it over again I’d probably just leave the legs as is. Using the staple gun was super easy to put this fabric on though!
