Refresh Used Crib Sheets

Crib sheets (and really sheets in general) get dingy looking so fast. I decided to refresh this old crib sheet and the result was amazing.

In this post, you will see I tied this using the geode tie-dye method. I also used logwood and the ice dye method. So if those are things you’d like more details on be sure to check out those posts in my dyeing category!

DIY Crib Sheets

  1. Wet your fabric and put it in an alum bath
  2. Rinse out the alum after allowing it to soak for at least two hours
  3. Boil water for your logwood dye vat
  4. Put your logwood extract in the pot when the water is boiling and turn the water to low heat
  5. Stir until logwood dissolves and place in your fabric
  6. Allow fabric to soak while stirring regularly for at least 2 hours if still using heat or overnight if you turn the stove off. Remove the fabric and rinse
  7. Tie your fabric in a pattern you’d like. For this sheet, I did the geode-tying method using sinew and a pipe.
  8. Place ice all over the folded fabric and sprinkle on the dye you’d like to accent with the purple. I used black here. For a full ice dye explanation see that post for details.
