DIY Custom Koozies

Did you know you can DIY your own custom koozies? This will also work on slim can koozies if you use the right ones that are linked below.

I love using my Cricut for projects. I’ve done a lot of infusible ink posts and even used some unconventional infusible ink blanks like the koozie featured here.

Let’s get you a custom can koozie. These turned out so cool. We used them for a mickey mouse party as a party favor. These would also be perfect for a wedding gift. They really don’t take much time if you make a simple design using your Infusible Ink.

Materials

  • Can Koozies
  • Infusible Ink

Tools

  • Teflon Sheet
  • EasyPress 2
  • Cricut
  • Cardstock
  • Butcher Paper (included with your Infusible Ink)

Instructions

  1. Create and cut your Cricut file. Be sure to mirror for iron-on!
  2. Weed your material using your fingers.
  3. Place the can koozie on your EasyPress mat.
  4. Place your Infusible Ink where you’d like it on the koozie.
  5. Place the butcher paper over the infusible ink, then the Teflon sheet.
  6. Heat your EasyPress to 345 and place it on the Teflon sheet for 45 seconds.
  7. Allow the materials to fully cool before you remove any part of the stack. If you do, ‘ghosting’ can happen which will look like shadowing.

Can I get customized can koozies fast?

Yes, you can. If you have a Cricut you could have these ready in 30 minutes. They’re really that simple. And you can have them say whatever you want, however, I suggest keeping it simple. Weeding infusible ink isn’t impossible but it can get tricky.

What is the best can koozie for infusible ink?

I can’t vouch for all polyester can koozies, but I can tell you which ones were used here that I KNOW will work with your infusible ink. For regular cans (we use these for sodas but they also fit a lot of beer cans) we use these plain white sublimation can koozies. If you’re drinking slimmer drinks (ie, whiteclaw, hard seltzers, or energy drinks) then slim can koozies may be a better option.

This was part of a Minnie Mouse party I put together. Don’t miss this DIY Mickey mouse wrapping paper and the Hot Diggity Dog Bar. I also put together this Mickey Mouse banner that is not birthday specific!
